Origin Of Name:Named after Luther Fillmore who was a well known rancher and railroad superintendent in the area. (WPA) Named in honor of a former division superintendent of the Union Pacific Railroad. (Annals of Wyoming 14:3) Luther Fillmore received a patent on land in Albany County in August, 1907. (General Land Office Records)Filmore Post Office was established on March 31, 1909 with Myra M. Wright as its first postmaster. It was discontinued on November 30, 1935 and its mail then handled by the Laramie Post Office. The post office was located 1/2 mile from the railroad station. The station name was Hatton. In 1916, the site was known as Wright Ranch. In 1931, the site became known by the name of Hatton. (Wyoming Post Offices) A discontinued postoffice and station on the Colorado, Wyoming and Eastern Railway, 23 miles west of Laramie, the county seat and banking point.
