From Peru station the traveler may catch glimpses toward the southwest of the high peaks of the Uinta Mountains, in northwestern Colorado. (Guidebook of the Western United States) On January 27, 1887, Peru, a railway town, 8 miles west of Green River, Wyoming, was destroyed by fire. (Historical Record, 1887)
