History:Mikado Post Office was established on February 25, 1888 in Crook County prior to the formation of Campbell County. Francis (Frank) M. Lavering served as postmaster. It was discontinued on July 13, 1889 but re-established on February 14, 1890. It was discontinued again on October 7, 1890 and its mail then handled by the Big Red Post Office. (Wyoming Post Offices) Frank M. Lavering died on August, 1888. (Wyoming Farmer August 8, 1888) According to Kansas county probate records, Rosella A. Lavering was Frank M. Lavering's wife. She received a patent on land in Campbell County in 1891. (General Land Office Records)
