History:Albany County Library was established by Albany County Commissioners in 1887. George W. Davis was named the first librarian. The library was housed in the public school from 1887-1891. (Laramie Republican-Boomerang January 20, 1956) On January 2, 1903, Laramie received a $20,000.00 Carnegie Library Grant. (Bobinski) Albany County's new Carnegie Library was "formally given to people" on January 24, 1906.
